SIX AM Group aimed to modernize their outdated design to better engage their audience, streamline cumbersome backend workflows that constrained their authors, and preserve the SEO performance of their extensive, high-traffic article archive during the transition. Their previous setup relied on WordPress, leveraging its built-in editor, which presented limitations in flexibility and scalability. Initially, we prototyped a solution using React.js for the frontend and Firebase for the backend. However, React.js, being a "single-page application" (SPA), posed significant challenges for SEO. Recognizing these limitations, we proposed transitioning to Next.js—a promising but emerging framework in 2023. After consulting with the client, we embraced this calculated risk, confident in its ability to deliver the robust performance and SEO capabilities needed for the project’s success.

To build a custom CMS from scratch using Next.js within a tight timeline, we collaborated closely with SIX AM Group through weekly sprints, ensuring consistent progress and addressing questions in real time. Once the web app’s core features—such as article creation and editing—were functional, their authors began migrating key articles to the new platform. After thorough testing and preparation, we seamlessly transitioned the site to its live domain without any major issues.
